Water Pigs Dirt (WPD)

A fun route which we hosted before for Rapha’s “A Day in Hell” event. One ride, held on the same weekend as Paris Roubaix around multiple locations worldwide in celebration of the cobbled classic. Riders pushed their limits and our route tried to be inclusive of different rider levels with a few tough off road sections and short steep sections. Cobbles were not tasted but the essence of a Day in Hell was with stunning local landscape, good coffee and cake enroute with a short water crossing and challenging sections.

Something Sharp (and slippery)

Clean #1

It rained, then rained more and then stopped raining for the race but rain was still coming off the mountains with rain running down the rain covered roads. This made the little concrete roads super slippery which resulted in people getting a bit too touchy with their brakes and slipping over. Lesson learned for both us and the participants. We won’t run this course again during the spring or wet seasons. Participants need to heed our warnings on tire choice and pressure and work on their steep decent braking skills. Regardless a fun and challenging day was had by all and thankfully nothing was broken, other than an exploding wheel!

2024 Queen & King Awards:

The current standings for the Specialized’s bikes King & Queen award: ShawnC and JoelleT are first place and in line to win some great Sworks gear. One race down and three to go so it’s still early days and anyone’s taking!

Next up is Clean #2: Beast of East. 99% good tarmac! 28 race tires are fine but 32s are more comfy and quicker?

2023 DC Sauna Slate Recap

Not too hot but lots of water, sweat and hills. I personally think this is the most stunning route but that’s up for debate. 135km of riding with a 1km freshly cut walk down to the river linked various routes we had been doing for a few years. We had our first fixed gear challengers and hopefully next time a ebiker? Very much look forward to expanding on this area and the next Dirty on the 28th of October.
